REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Coordinating Minister of Food Zulkifli Hasan appreciated Republika for holding the ESG Now Awards 2025. He judged the awards to be in line with the direction of government policies focused on sustainable development, honesty, and social responsibility.

Zulkifli explained that the concept of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) has actually been part of Indonesian culture for a long time. The values of sustainability, gotong royong, and love of the environment have been taught hereditarily by ancestors. “Our ancestors always taught about sustainable environment, about togetherness, kindness, honesty, all religions also taught that. Islam, love of homeland, love of environment, trees must be dear to us,” Zulhas said at the ESG Now Awards 2025 in Jakarta, Wednesday (16/10/2025).

He said that the award presented by the Republic illustrates the direction of national development that the government is now pursuing. According to him, the various programs implemented by President Prabowo Subianto constitute a real form of application of ESG values in public policy practice.

“Well, brothers and sisters, that is what our President is doing right now. Those programs almost all lead to what today is awarded by Republika,” he said.

Zulhas expressed his gratitude to Republika for giving room for appreciation for efforts to preserve sustainability values in various sectors. He considered that this step was an important impetus for the spirit of ESG to return to the collective behavior of the nation.

“Republika, thank you for the Republic,” said the figure, who is also the President of the PAN.

Zulkifli said that the current government is accelerating various initiatives based on sustainability values, from waste to energy development in 33 cities to accelerating food self-sufficiency. Both programs were designed to address national environmental and food security challenges simultaneously.
