Three people have been arrested after a man was found dead in a wheelie bin in Coventry.

The trio included a man and a woman both in their 40s and a man in his 20s, police said.

They were detained overnight in Blackpool on suspicion of murder and assisting an offender.

Inquiries to formally identify the dead man and establish how he died were continuing, the West Midlands force added.

Officers were called by a member of the public at 17:00 GMT on Friday to Cash's Park off Daimler Road in Coventry after the body of a man, believed to be aged between 40 and 50, was discovered.

Over the weekend, a description was released of the dead man's distinctive tattoos. They include a tattoo on his back featuring a cross with a snake wrapped around it, with the words "little stardust".

He also had a tattoo on his right arm which said "nan", along with a clover and the colours of the Irish flag.

Det Ch Insp Phil Poole thanked members of the public who had been in touch with information so far.

He said officers were continuing to appeal to anyone who might know more about what happened to make contact.
